Crusader Sword with Octagonal Pommel, 13th c. | Ready For Battle Swords

Crusader Sword with Octagonal Pommel, 13th c. | Ready For Battle Swords

Battle-ready replica of a high medieval single-handed sword, as wielded by crusaders of various orders during the Holy Crusades, for example. This sword's attraction stems from its octagonal pommel, which stands out from the more common disc-shaped pommel.

This sword is entirely made by hand. The octagonal pommel and the elegantly formed guard are constructed of heat-treated malleable cast iron. The spring steel blade is hand-riveted to the pommel and oil-tempered to 48-50° Rockwell. Leather straps adorn the hilt. The blade features a pronounced fuller that provides tremendous flexibility while also reducing weight. For safety, the blade's edges are dull and the tip is rounded. The leather-wrapped wooden scabbard has a wooden belt loop (maximum belt width 5 inches).
