Practical Rapier Sword, 109 cm Blade | Rapier Swords

The Renaissance-style Hanwei Rapiers date back to the early 17th century in Europe, where swordplay with the Rapier was considered an important element of a gentleman's education and was frequently employed to settle gentlemanly disputes. Blades were normally made in one of the blade-making centers, such as Toledo or Solingen, but the local fabrication of hilts all over Europe resulted in various variances in style and hilt materials.

The Main Gauche, or left-hand dagger, was frequently employed in conjunction with the rapier, adding a new dimension to both assault and defense, and the "Schools of Fence" that sprung up all throughout Europe during this time period taught how to use the two weapons together. The Main Gauche would frequently match the Rapier in style while introducing characteristics that increased the piece's efficiency. For most Rapiers and Main Gauches, replacement blades are available, both live and dull (for sparring).
